The International Federation for the Surgery and Other Therapies for Obesity (IFSO) comprises 77 National Societies of Bariatric Surgeons and Integrated Health Professionals.
IFSO’s mission is to unify the global scientific, surgical, and integrated health communities, for the purpose of dissemination of knowledge, collaboration and establishing universal standards of care for the treatment of individuals with adiposity-based chronic disease.
It focuses on Worldwide bariatric activities such as bariatric congresses, international meetings, coordination of scientific collaboration among various internal bariatric surgical organizations, collaboration with national governmental organizations and other international organizations such as the WHO.
The current President of IFSO is Khaled Gawdat and the Congress President is Mehran Anvari.
